Do You Feel

Like Armand?

Armand is an entrepreneur struggling to grow his company he started a few years ago. No matter how much more time he commits, he is not making more money. His ADHD has become a challenge, and the emotional dysregulation is affecting the morale of his staff, family, client relationships, and him  – “No matter what I do or win, I am frustrated, but someone has to do it.”

LONG HOURS AND DAYS

Armand is working long hours and not enjoying his successes. He is doing a lot of the work he “should” do as the owner, but it is not the work he “wants” to do. He has convinced himself the owner has to do it all.  “What will they think if I can’t do it all?” When he gets home, he is mentally drained and short-tempered.

NO LONGER ENJOYING WORK

“But what work do I want to do?” How is he able to explain it or justify it? He keeps doing low-value tasks he does not like while his staff works on projects and do jobs they are good at and enjoy.  His staff are busy so that he will do it this once.  His staff is also struggling to keep up with him and struggling to help him.  He has lost great staff because of his lack of trusting people.

SETBACKS BY IMPULSIVE DECISIONS

Armand’s setbacks are due to his impulsive decisions, costing the company lots of money and significant expenditures that affect cash flow for months.  He wonders why he doesn’t have money in the bank, considering how busy they are and continues to spend money impulsively.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

All the self-help books don’t work, and they don’t help him figure HIMSELF out.  “What is wrong with me?  Why can’t I get just one win?” Frequently he is told that his way of working is not “normal” and to change.  When he does change his methods, the company suffers since it is not how he does things naturally.

CAN’T MAINTAIN CONFIDENCE

Armand can never get a hold of his confidence.  Everything he does eats away at this confidence.  Successes and wins are short-lived with immediate negative self-talk – “I got lucky this time!” or “I could have done better only if I tried a little harder or if I was better prepared.”
